I don't go to the movies very often. In fact, I think the last movie I saw that is worth talking about was RESTREPO back in July. If you haven't seen it, then shame on you. A truly great documentary about US troops and what they're up against in Afghanistan and the Taliban in the Korengal valley. Actually, I'm lying, The Town (Ben Affleck) was really good too.
I got a chance to go see 127 Hours recently. The movie about the true story of Aron Ralston, whom 7 years ago, got his hand stuck under a canyon boulder, in a remote area of Utah called Blue John Canyon. I'm not ruining anything about the movie by telling you that he cut his own arm off to free himself after 6 days.
The movie was truly great. It's a journey of sorts, with a message of never giving up. Never never never giving up. I really enjoyed it, as it brought out very strong emotions. Chances are you read my blog because you're also a distance runner or distance athlete, which means you like to push yourself and see what else your body can give you when you have nothing left to give. If so, why are you still reading this?? Get out there and see this movie!
Here's the movie's trailer:
And here's an interesting interview with him a few years later:
