Up until today, I considered myself pretty well rounded in terms of what's going on in the world, and thought i was similar to most people. That is until i read Google's list of top 10 most searched things for the year in different categories throughout the world. (note: my US only interests were also quite different)
i have never heard of the #1 most searched term: chatroulette.
i also apparently have either great or terrible taste in music as I don't like any of the top 10 "humans" in entertainment.
i don't know the latest trends in diets either as only 2 would appeal to me to read more about.
i don't eat the same as most of the world as i wouldn't have searched for any of the food & drink other than Guac, but then again, i know how to make guac.
I'm apparently searching for the wrong places in the world, OR, i need to travel more.
However, I do agree with the top 2 in sports and most of the news ones except Besiktas. What's going on in Besiktas? i know it's a City in Turkey, and i know they have a soccer and a basketball team, but is it really the 2nd most popular news search for the year?

one last note: Apparently America is bored, because the #6 most searched term in Google Maps was "Things to do". Get fat, that's what we're doing.

Besiktas is a neighborhood in Istanbul (sorta the size of West of I35 of north of the river Austin) Turkey and as you know it is one of the "BIG THREE" in soccer over there. Recently they came to attention because many people got stabbed before the soccer game between Besiktas and last year's league champion Bursa. Bursa was the first Anatolian to win the chanpionship in 30+ years and they had bad blood between them for a while. Riots before the game led to a very stark contrast between the minimal "contact" the riot police had with them compared to the various political protestors in which a pregnant woman (19) was kicked on the ground so many times, leading to a miscarriage. Sorry for getting heavy but this is probably why it got mentioned so many times (and ofcourse it might just be due to the fact that their soccer team now is a contender for the championships again... I believe Franco had something to say about it:)
I thought Besiktas is up there because Shaq might be moving...
Allen Iverson... He is already there. Cant say he is shining though:)
