AIRROSTI treatment #1 and 2 runs since

That my friends, is the fancy KT tape I'm sporting for the next few days. (Thats about as close to spandex shorts as I'll get, by the way.)

So the first session was good. I had heard countless accounts of painful treatments, so I went in prepared to suffer. I wasn't looking forward to it, because I know how bad my other therapists and even my masseuse have treated me over the years, so the thought of something worse than stuff that makes me literally flop around like a fish out of water, or yell out loud was not appetizing.

The best way I can describe AIRROSTI is: Imagine your worst massage. You know the one where you have a bad knot in your _______ and your favorite Masseuse tears into it. Well, its kind of like that, except there was more strategy and purpose, and he uses only his thumbs to abuse you. But it's very methodical and there's clearly a technique, whereas a massage I would describe as more of a free flow". This is definitely a treatment.
He found some spots that he didn't like, then commented on how tight the whole thing was. He essentially played with my tendon the way Jimmy Hendrix would go off on Guitar strings. This lasted 30mins. I then went to Kelly, who showed me specific foam roller techniques and stretches they want me to do in addition to 20min icing sessions 2 times a day. (curiously similar to the stretches I mentioned a week ago with links to videos - thats a good thing!)

Then she taped me up real good. The maori warrior look will stay on until further notice, but I won't be performing the Haka.

He wants me to run run run to test it and come back on Monday (4days later) with plenty of data so he can adjust or continue on the same path.

So i ran yesterday afternoon.
My leg felt beat up, and bruised, so it was a weird run, but about 30 minutes into that, the beat up feeling subsided. I did feel an ache in the ITB, but not the sharp pains vie had before. Overall, it compared to one of many other decent runs I've had where I've just ignored the achy feeling. The good news is that no sharp knife stabbings were felt. Kept the pace at mellow as a friend joined me.

I ran again this morning.
The run was very similar to yesterday, except the bruised/beat up feeling didn't last as long. I pushed the pace as I was on my own and again realized how out of shape i am compared to the past. However, no shooting pains, just a lingering pain throughout.

I run again tomorrow, then again Sunday.
By the way, I haven't run in 3 successive days since June.

So is it better? Like I told a couple friends that called to check on me, and then WDE when he called 30 mins ago... "it felt like one of my better days. the pain is there, but no sharp knife stopping me. I'm cautiously optimistic". WDE's reply: "Good. I want you to judge everything with a very critical eye."
