"the feeling throughout the music industry is that Spotify will be a game-changer"
Here is one of many articles on Spotify and why it will be big.

What the hell are you talking about, Mike?
Well, in my own words, Pandora is channels of types of music. Kind of like radio channels where you don't control what comes next. Think of Spotify as Pandora mated with Itunes. It's differet to pandora, closer to itunes than pandora. You choose all the music, albums, playlists you like, and play away. You can also share/see what friends are playing to get ideas etc.  It's much more robust, and very very fast in finding songs.  Once you've created your playlists, you can then go to "library" and play random order or normal.  It will also quickly suck in all your local music you may have on your HD too, in case there's a band it doesn't have in it's library. (i.e. a band called Fences that i like isn't on there so i added on my own)  There's a free and pay version.  The free one does have an ad maybe 2 times an hour or so... Ads  really haven't been painful and i listen all day when i'm working.
(you can have the application on multiple machines and log in and you will see the same playlists everywhere. I use it on three laptops. (I know, I'm a dork, but it's part of my job)

What is spotify? (in their words)
