When the moon

It's... AMORE!!
(I had that song stuck in my head all morning)
Marla invited to get my Sunday run in with her on Saturday mornin instead of Sunday. My schedule called for a 60 min trail run, and so did hers, so I joined her and Nedra. Nedra had to be at the Annex for coaching at 7am, and Marla was meeting a friend to ride 35 miles at 7am, so we took off at 5:30am.
Sunrise today: 6:34am.
We took off from trail head at Barton Springs shortly after 5:30am. It was dark out. However the moon's incendescent light provided just enough light for us to keep an easy pace for the first 35 mins.
Marla and Nedra are pros at this, and Karma ho came along, is an expert. Karma's 4 legs led the way, with Marla in tow waving her 3 foot long stick in the air as if it were a Magic wand. What was she doing? Knocking down spider webs that might be in the way, of course. Nedra ran in the middle, while I rounded out the rear.
Quite a few times we slowed to a walk pace in the very rocky areas, as there was no need to break an ankle, or stumble over and crack open a skull or knee cap.
We did well... no fell, although Nedra and I had our fair shares of stumble recoveries.
It started raining about half ways out, which was interesting... Running in the dawn of the day, on a trail, in the rain. Nice!
Marla was smart and decided we should run 35 mins out, as it would be lighter out on the way back, thus allowing us to pick up the pace on the way back. The rain caused the rocks and some dirt areas to get somewhat slick, so we let Karma off the leash, and he loved it. Talk about a happy dog! He kept a good 15 to 30 yards lead on us, and his tail never failed him. It was wagging as if he was knocking spider webs down for us.
The rain ended soon after it started, and we arrived back at the trail head around 6:40am. I think we ran around 5.5 to 6 miles. It was great! An added bonus. 6:40am, and I'm done with my run! Perfect time to go home and work in the yard for 3 hours!
