These last few days, the weekend, Monday, and today, I've been going non-stop,and thwa heat has been ridiculous. 100F degree weather with heat indexes well over 104F.
Saturday morning: 4 hours yard work. Sunday morning: 4 hours yard work, Sunday evening: 3 hours yard work. Monday evening: 3 hours yard work (thanks for volunteering to help, Dan. Without you, my list doesn't get finished.. no way in hell). [pics of yard in the flicker thing on the right column]
Then this morning I had my usual Tuesday 5:30am run group workout. But, before I get to that, I need to tell you how dehydrated I've been. I'm really good at drinking water, but only when I'm at work. I'll sit there and drink 5, 6, sometimes 8 pint glasses worth of water. Come the weekend though, somehow I often forget to drink regardless how thirsty I get. I don't know why, I just don't.
After Monday night's "Must complete all yard tasks session" I drank about a liter and a half of water mixed with my favorite juice => White Grape Peach, or, White Grape when they don't have White Grape Peach at the getting place. I like to mix it with 50 - 70% of water because it's too sweet on its own. But I love that stuff! I can drink it day and night. In chatting with Marla one evening, we played my version of something you've probably all been asked one time or another:
"What 3 food stuffs would you take with you to a deserted island?" the twist though is (other than the fact that in my world you get to pick 3 things), the other person has to tell you what they think you would say. Marla nailed 2 out of 3. White Grape Peach juice & Cheese. (The third... in due time my friends... in due time.)
So Monday night I drank tons. When the alarm rang at 4:40am, there was no urge to pee like all other mornings. I tried to force myself, because all runners know, you don't want to have to go when it's too late, but the attempt was unsuccessful. I drank 16oz of water on the drive down, and tested the port-a-potty but nothing. (long story there, just to tell you that's how dehydrated I was)
The workout was tough, real tough. We ran just under a 3 mile warm up to the bottom of a steep hill, then ran these repeats at full speed. 3 set of 4 sprints. My legs were so full of lactic acid by the 2nd sprint of the 3rd set, they just wouldn't go.
It's weird when your brain says:
"GO GO GO"
but your body says:
"NO NO NO"
The 3 mile cooldown run back was hell. I got nauseous, my stomach cramped up, and i honestly thought i was going to faint. Thanks Nedra for walking with me.
Anyway, back to the story. So I'm tired. Yard work marathons, lack of water, lack of sleep, and tough workout. You'd think someone like me, who's gladly in bed at 9:15-9:30pm on a regular night, would be out like a light by 7pm, but nope. It's 11pm, and I’m not even close to drowsy.
Maybe it's time to pull out 1 corona and slam it down? Yep, I’m going for it.
Oooo! I think I need to pee! ( I really do)
