Stretching? Not so fast.

Got one of these articles from GZ a few weeks ago, then the other was a link off the first.

regardless, these are highly interesting to me, as I definitely can't touch my toes, and it seems like the less i stretch, the better i feel.

Want To Improve Your Economy? Stop Stretching

Then again, I'm not trying to break any land-speed records so it makes sense to me, but I do think a good hamstring stretch is worth $1,000,000 if you're doing a lot of speed work.

I don't know much about speed, but if I don't stretch after running or when plantar fasciitis acts up, I pay for it. On long runs it greatly cuts any muscular soreness I may have the next day. This is only a subjective impression, but it acts like it clears junk out of the muscles, because I get a similar effect from massage.

Also, except for occasional calf and quad stretch I don't do anything unless I'm warmed up. That may make a difference.

Disclaimer: I'm 50, and I never ran when I was young so I can't compare.
