9.3 miles today. not bad... not bad...

Karma and I met up with Marla and her dog Cricket as well as her foster dog Eddy for a run this morning at 5:30am. She had a 90 minute run on her IronMan Coeur d’Alene training schedule, and I, well, I’m always up for a run if someone wants to run with me!

I’ve been feeling good of late, with no IT Band issues, but then again, I’ve also been going pretty easy on trails for 3 or 4 miles. I did go about 8-8.5 miles with Kerry on Saturday on the trails, and that felt fine, and another 6 on the trails on Sunday with Karma, and that felt fine. However, today was the first true test. As you runners know, a road or hike and bike trail run is entirely different as the pace is faster, and jumping on asphalt is the true test. We did a 4 mile loop around the Lake with Karma. Jeez Louise is that kid slow on a leash. Poor pup is either getting old, or I need to get him back into shape. We then dropped Karma and Eddy off in the cars and ran up congress, past the capitol, the Blanton and up Speedway to the blinking light right before the biog drop. From Runtex to that blinking light and back is almost exactly 5 miles, so overall we did 9 miles. The last 5, at a considerably faster clip than the Karma slowpoke miles. IT Band did not make a peep, so I’m officially dropping it from my conversation.
I’m back baby! I’m back!

So far I’ve gone 31 miles in the last 7 days which is pretty decent. However, I don’t count my weeks from Wednesday to Tuesday, so we’ll see come end of day Saturday where I end up on mileage for the week. I’m pretty happy though… 31 miles is good. I need to be back up to 45 miles per week by the week of the 21st of April (3 weeks from now) as that’s where the real fun begins for the next 9 months. Stay tuned for another upcoming post with the craziness I’m about to embark upon. (Should it be ‘upon’ or ‘on’?)
Here’s our 9.3 mile route: (Pretty much the Nedra&Mike summer special)
