“It comes down to how much you want it. If you’re in the middle of nowhere, with nothing, you are going to find your way out. You will find a way to become a champion.”
That quote is fantastic in so many ways. And taken out of the article it's in, you'd never know where it came from. It's that good.
Brownie already posted this on his blog, but I know I tend to have a different audience... Here's a cool article from the NY Times about the Incline in Colorado Springs.
Someday I'll go run that thing, and probably will sit down on the side, half way up and puke. Brownie will laugh at me, but I'll keep going. Until that day comes, I'll keep running hard up the piddly hills we have. I just got the urge to go run Stratford repeats! Anyone?

Nobody outside of Matt Carpenter runs the incline.
And I live less than 3/4 mile from the hill, you're welcome to come try your luck anytime.
I remember the first time I saw the incline. When you are staring at it (the 'scar' on the side of the mountain) and hear that someone can run it, it sounds and looks like an impossible feat.
You going to do Pikes next year?
Brownie, ok, i won't run it, but i'll check it out!
Sadie, nope, not next year. Pike's peak doesn't really appeal to me at all. Sounds like a traffic jam, then a non enjoyable time up and down a mountain. I'd much rather go straight to a beautiful 50 miler somewhere.
My schedule (barring injury) is as follows:
Timberline26.2 fun marathon (Oregon) September 13
Dec 7 - Cali Int'l RACE marathon
Jan - Bandera - 25K or 50K
Feb - AT&T Austin for easy long run like last year.
April - Boston (no jinx) OR Rocky Hill Ranch 50K or more
June 1 - Stockholm Marathon (i'll be visiting my mom, so might as well run it while there)
Then some well deserved R&R, maybe some fun colorado runs if someone like Brownie is willing to show me around.
We could always do the Nolans route...
