I was watching CNN yesterday, and the coverage of Gustav, who incidentally, is skeered to come to Austin, because the other hurricanes rain clouds all died on their way over here.
The guy on the TV said, "On a positive note, looting is way down this year with only one arrest compared to Katrina when there were several hundred arrests". (or something to that effect)
Why does this mean there's less looting?
Maybe it just means the looters remembered what not to do from 3 years ago and just were smarter looters that didn't get caught this year because they hid better, broke into stores without power/alarms, or operated in groups with walkie-talkies where one guy watched for police, while the others stole cigarettes and Heinekens?

Hmmm, from my perspective of dealing with crooks, they don't get smarter...look at the picture, does that look smart, carrying your looted beer right out in the open. By the way, I'm guessing that's an old picture. I don't think New Orleans got that wet this time.
