Super Secret Workout, no longer secret

Apparently the super secret workout is not secret. So i'm posting my splits so I have them to go back to when we do this as a group.

The workout was to go 400M @ 10k pace, then 400M @ MGP, and alternate continuously with no recoveries or water breaks. Just go till you can go no more... You stop if you fail to hit your goal time by more than 2 seconds.

Here's my results email to Steve, and his reply. I guess me being his experiment worked as we'll do this as a group workout. It really did make my MGP feel uber slow after a while.

"AFTER FURTHER REVIEW... I wasn't DQ'd... bummer"

Steve,

i just grabbed my splits off my watch, and I totally F'ed up. I was allowed to keep going...
As you see below, I was supposed to go MGP that lap, so i wasn't DQ'd. But somehow I got mixed up and thought I was on a 10K lap so with 100 meters to go, I tried to shave 8 seconds.

DAMMIT... now i'm pissed, because I think could have run somewhere between 4 and 10 more laps. However, I was definitely tiring more and more as the laps went on. (10 may be stretching it, but i'm pretty stubborn, especially if you tell me to go till I can go no more.)

As i totally lost count of number of laps, I was trying to do some math to try and figure out how far I had run based on time, i then decided my goal was going to be a minimum of 1hr 5mins, but aim for 1h 10 or more...

How'd I do? What did you think I'd do? I know you must have had some arbitrary ranges in your head...

Total: 33 laps
Distance: 8.25 miles
Time: 55 mins 57 seconds.

Steve's reply:

Ha! Well then, my plan succeeded. Your workout below is a thing of beauty. Don’t worry…you’ll get a chance to have a “do over.”
You averaged just under 7 min per for 8.25 miles. Awesome. You should feel very good about this workout. If you had nailed it the first time though, then I would not have done the workout with the group.

That is a great workout, we did a very similar thing in Mac's group last year- 1K @ 10K pace, 1K @ MGP, repeat with no recovery between anything. Only difference (other than the distances) was he had us do a specific number (I think we started with 2-3 and were up to 8? by the end of training), instead of "until we can't go any more". Definitely makes MGP feel slow!
