Yesterday, I attended coach's Happy Office and Ruthie showed up with a bunch of Boston schwag! Lisa our beloved teammate and adidas rep had some presents and i scored a Hoodie, a bag, and a tech shirt. That's about $120 worth of Boston stuff for free! (I'm so glad I held off on buying stuff at the expo to then buy online once it went on sale! Because you can't beat FREE!) In addition, I have a pair of Boston men's shorts that I'll offer up to someone else, since they're a little too loud for my taste... this year's bright blue and electric yellow were a little too much for me. Let me know if you want the shorts, they're size small, but look like a medium since they're the baggy basketballer kind. (click on hyperlink for design)
Today, out of the dozen or so runners that are in the email about a run in the morning, only two brave souls stood in the 78 degree, 94% humidity at 5:30am, ready to take on the 10 mile challenge. Karma enjoyed his loop a little too much, hopping into the bushes to chase down something or other, and Muz and I swam our way through the soupy weather ending our 10 miles we needed with a refreshing Barton Springs soak. He knows all about selling MRI Systems, and I know all about teaching statistics now.
Tomorrow, some speedwork is on the schedule.
Ok, back to work I go.

One of the PPRR guys who ran Boston has shown up to every Tues/Thurs workout wearing brand new Boston schwag. The BRIGHT yellow shirt with bright blue stripes down the sleeves hurt my eyes a little.
Can you post a pic of the official t-shirt and any other stuff you got for entering the race?
that's what's crappy, Brownie.
There is no official T-shirt etc.
What he's wearing I assume is freakin electric "i hurt your eyes" yellow with BOSTON 2009 down the sleeve in blue. That's the shirt everyone gets at the expo. You don't get a finishers shirt, not even a t-shirt. but they did sell finisher's t-shirts for $25 or so. I haven't even taken my yellow spazz shirt out of the plastic bag it came in yet, and don't expect I will until Novemeber when the weather MAY require a long sleeve to wear.
So no, I can't take a picture, because other than that yellow shirt you've damaged your corneas on already, you don't get shit for free. I did get a water bottle at the finishline, and then got hooked up with a cap by my adidas friend lisa at the expo, then all this other stuff. but NOTHING was free at the race.
this is all the stuff they sold...

the ridiculous loud blue and yellow popular Boston jacket was $90. ha! too much for me, both in price and annoying color.
Holy crap! Is the stuff cheaper online than at the expo?
I'm not joking when I say the guy bought one of everything. I've seen him every Tues and Thurs since Boston, and he's had brand new schwag on, something different each day.
I even made fun of him for having matching Adidas shoes, but had no idea they were actual Boston marathon shoes!
nope prices are identical at the expo than online, except, they did email out a code for 15% off online a week after, so yeah, i guess now its 15% off taken at the checkout point.
I bought the white short sleeve techshirt with some blue on the sleeves. The "quietest" shirt available once i got the discount code.
Dude spent at least $500 if not $1000 if he bought all that crap.
I'm happy I got hooked up with free stuff. But, I did spend $30 on that 1 shirt to have one souvenir from it. so not bad... all that free stuff for $30.
My buddy and I were walking around at the expo just dogging a lot of the adidas stuff. A lot of it was just plain UGLY, way too friggin bright blue and yellow.
OH WELL MIKE...YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO PASS ON BOSTON FROM NOW ON BECAUSE THE STUFF IS ALWAYS BLUE OR YELLOW. THE TECH SHIRTS ALTERNATE YEAR TO YEAR. WHAT YOU GET FOR FREE IS THE AMAZING ATMOSPHERE AND THE PRIVILAGE OF RUNNING WITH SOME OF THE BEST RUNNERS IN THE COUNTRY.
They don't alternate those two colors... But true, they do switch them up ever year, but not always yellow and blue.
I've seen people wear black with red, red with black, dark navy blue with white, orange and black... They even had them all in a giant display case museum style at the expo.
And No need to yell(capital letters). ; )
