Uncertain but calm

It's kind of weird to think I'm going to "race" for 6-7 hours
tomorrow, but I think the race plan I've decided on is solid.
Steady 9:30-10min/mile pace with a few pickups where the course
allows. Patience for 4 hours, a slight pace pickup for the 5th hour
and then hope i can hold on for dear life on the last 10kms!

Assumption: the course is on the friendly side of trail race courses
with no steep steep loose rock climbs and limited technical tracks.

My stretch goal is to finish under 6 hours which I think will be a big
accomplishment. That will means I'll have to run six sub-1 hour ten
kilometer loops. I'm very confident I can keep that pace for 4 loops,
and will then just need to toughen up and grind my way through loop 5,
then give it every ounce of energy I have left for the final drive.
(but I'll be satisfied with anything under 7hrs, and happy to get
through the struggles of an 8 hour misery run. Afterall, this is a
milestone race... 60km end of august, 80km end of october, 100k on
race day two
Months later)

It's quite certain that my friend Muz will be joining me for the full
60km even though he doesn't believe he'll be able to keep up for the
entire race, but I think he can.

In addition, the course allows you to pick up a pacer after 3 loops
and there's a decent chance that one if not two friends will be coming
out. That means i'll have someone fresh to yell at me and keep me on
pace, and if both decide to come out, so will Muz.

So when you're deciding what to do at 10pm on Saturday night, send me
a few energy thoughts as I'll be half way through with the hardest
half yet to go.

T minus 30hrs!

Good luck! This'll be the farthest you've ever run, correct? Be sure to give the lightning bolt pose at the finish!
