Today we had all kinds of options on how to run our 10 miles up and down Shoal Creek.
I chose: no warmup miles to simulate a marathon race, jumping straight in to race pace from the start. The first 3 miles were rough. We were very consistent and ended up averaging 6:31avg pace(2:50) for the first 5 miles so kind of a steady state run on a gradual uphill.
Jim, Jason and I looked forward to running back down hill. I decided to slow it down to try and nail my race pace of 6:45 for the second set of 5 miles.
The wind hit us head on for the return trip which made the effort harder, but I still hit 6:44, 48, 42, 47, 41 for those running on feel and not with anyone's GPS watch.
Today, my "quad-at-knee" gave me a real dirty look from mile 4 onwards, but I ignored it and kept going.
Happy running!

jumping right into MPG :(
Probably not the best running advice!
that's what i do in a marathon, so not much of a difference!
then again, for soft people, it is not recommended at all!
LOL!
