13 weeks

Can you believe it's now 13 weeks of IT Band issues? I can.

Went and got 30 mins of non stop IT Band treatment by my
masseuse today. She says it "felt" better than last time as the tendon does not seem to be "fused" to the quad anymore. She was able to wiggle it around and work it up and down from hip to knee, but down by the knee where the crippling pain lives, the pain was there, inflammation was there, alas, that is where sadness continues to live. Anyway... She worked the crap out of it, shoving her elbow deep down and rubbing and grinding, hard enough to have me easily give in and reveal my deepest darkest secrets. (Sorry trusting friends, your secrets are no longer safe.)

The key, she says, will be how I feel 36 hours from now. Stay tuned.

Surprisingly, I had an opening in my super busy schedule tonight, so I decided to check out the zilker relays. (4 runners to a team, 2.5 mile loops). I set up camp at right about mile 2, and saw and ran with a bunch of friends for up to a couple hundred yards trying to pull them along for even faster times. Asia, Kamran, Christine, Cindy,Rhonda, Lonnie, Kenny, Christine again (Ran two legs!), Niccole, Amie, Mandy, and more... They all were flying!

The IT Band handled these "sprints" ok, as none lasted mre than 150 yards, except the last one (250 yards or so, as I was headed back to the finish any way) but I could definitely feel irritation, and it's definitely very inflamed as I lie here suffering from insomnia. ; )

Gonna "try" a mellow 60min trail run this morning, then roll, stretch and ice it down as I nap away to the first Saturday of college football.

Nice sunset view of the "new" Austin in the walk back to the car.

Beach Water and God said...

My injury took 16-17 to heal... I would recommend easing into it as I then had the overcompensation issue on the otherside. One more month you should be good to go .....easy. Hang in there.
