Q1 Stats, year over year
Month - 2008 - 2009
January - 151- 332
February - 103 - 255
March - 41 - 280
1st Quarter Totals - 295 - 867
(In late february, and all of March of 2008, I was pretty much sidelined due to a bad IT Band injury because I was running erratic distances.)
In 2008, I was in the dumps mentally after two horrible fall marathons where I chased a 3:15. I was seriously thinking I should maybe quit this stupid sport. I then read a book (Running Within), my coach planted an idea in my head, I ran for fun for 3 months, and things turned around dramatically.
Quite the difference with 2009, where I've run 572 more miles than in the 1st quarter of 2008!!
I did have a little knee frustration, but it's at 95%, which to me means... ALL SYSTEMS GO!
Before I get to Boston, I'll have 1000+ miles under me.
In 2008, I reached 1,000 miles in the middle of June.
I also thought it was interesting to look at the 3 months leading up to CIM, vs. these last 3 months leading up to Boston:
- Month - 2008 - 2009
- Month 3 - 287 - 332
- Month 2 - 301 - 255
- Month 1 - 275 - 280
- Totals: 863 - 867 Doesn't get much closer than that!

Economy plummets but my reader numbers soar!
I just went and looked at some stats from Google Analytics to see if people read my blog at all.
Last time I did this was a few months ago, and i was seeing between 50 and 70 pageviews a day. (Pageviews and unique visitors are very similar as most people don't return more than once a day.)
Here's what it looked like the week before the marathon, and after the marathon!
(First number is total pageviews, second number is unique vistors)
Wednesday - 261 / 227
Thursday - 566 / 503
Friday - 256 / 240
Saturday - 176 / 156
Sunday (raceday) - 342 / 240
Monday - 309 / 271
Tuesday (race report) - 230 / 188
Wednesday - 225 / 174
Thursday - 137 / 112

And it's been fluctuating between 120 and 150 since then. On that Thursday Dec 4, I didn't post anything out of the ordinary.

Pretty cool! I had no idea that many people had so much time on their hands. Makes me want to stop using profanity, and pay attention to my spelling/grammar.

It's even interesting to dig real deep and see where people live that are reading... like for example, someone in the south eastern part of Sweden is reading my blog.
hi mom!
Or that people brought their laptops/iphones with them to California and read my blog from there?
