Mixed Greens
This morning it was time to thin out the carrots, a n d a l s o s p a c e - o u t t h e L e t t u c e to maximize the amount of goodness we'll be eating in a month or so. Instead of tossing the spaced lettuce, I transplanted it to other ares in the garden, we'll see if they take!
I further examined the tomato plants, cut off the dead leave, the branches that suffered a frosty fate, and cleaned up the red pepper that seems to not have fared to well either. All plants seem to be alive at this time, so I've decided to give them a few days until we decide whether we replace them with healthy new ones.
The lettuce is coming along great, and I can't wait for the first harvest, which I think will be in mid to late april. There is now an official race between the green beans and the corn to see who can grow the fastest. My bet is on the corn to reach 2 feet first, as I planted it a week after the peas, and they're already 2-3 inches tall.
