GAME 1 – TEXAS 55 - NORTH TEXAS 7 - 09/02/2006

The first game of the season couldn’t get here soon enough. After winning the National Championship, this was a long anticipated wait with many questions and concerns at key postions. Namely, how to replace Vince Young. Our new starter Colt McCoy looked great. He had a fantastic supporting cast, so as long as he limits his mistakes while he matures and finds his place on the team. We should be OK.
We tailgated for an hour and a half before the game, where I was sure to take care of a couple of Mimosas, and a few beers.

On the field, we killed North Texas, and the sun killed the fans. The kickoff was at 11am, and by 1pm, I wanted to kill myself. It was so friggin hot. I could barely stand it.
The new scoreboard was also a curiosity, but after the introduction where they used up the whole space, they turned it into the largest high definition billboard in the world. They better adjust real quick.

I could only last until half-time and I agree on the jumbo-tron thing. I've heard a lot of complaints about that one...hopefully we'll get more action and less ads here soon.

College football, on this level, is, in many aspects, a professional sport. Don't get me wrong, the Horns are my team and a great game, but because of that a monekybuttload of people are waiting in line to make money off of it, and why wouldn't Coke and Taco Bell want a piece of the action It sucks that that advertisers bought 50% of the screen but really, what did you expect? The Godzillatron isn't really for the fans, it's all about bringing in more money. You have every right to be pissed!

Hook 'em!

Well, after this weekend, I guess it's time to change the chant to: BOOK 'EM Horns!
