Will I be rooting for OU tomorrow?

Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday

I took Monday off after running for 8 straight days since this is kind of a taper week going in to Saturday's Bandera 50km trail race.

Tuesday provided some much needed rain to Austin. Since it combined with 39 degree weather, i decided to not go to our 5:30am run, as my day's schedule allowed for some flexibility. Bruce also had the option of a later run, so we met at 10:30am for a gorgeous blue sky 55 degree run around the lake. We ran 12 miles.

This morning I met up with Ken, Kamran, and Bruce for 10.25 miles. Ran a Karma loop, then out to UT campus and then back down Rio Grande. That is a nice road to run down early in the AM. No cars, and gentle downhill.

That's all I got for you today.

Start gathering up your Florida Gators gear so you can root for them on Thursday night. There is absolutely no reason why a self-respecting Longhorn whould ever root for OU. BIG XII or no BIG XII, i don't care, and agree whole-heartedly with Mr. BOOM!

They should just remove the Miami Dolphins out of the playoffs, because Oklahoma, err.... sorry..., i mean NE is playing better late in the season, and what happened at the start of the season doesn't count...

BSC - my take on the coaches poll

I'm not even going to begin to go into why the Harris Poll is stupid, other than, it's just a bunch of "has beens" that vote. It's no better than the AP Poll it replaced.

However, the coaches poll. I understand it's a 3 way tie in the BIG XII South. However, I'm only talking Texas and OU.
I'd like each and every coach that has a vote in the poll to put themselves in the position of Head Coach of the University of Texas football team. If you were in this situation, wouldn't you expect all your peers to put you ahead of the team you beat on a neutral field earlier in the season?

I mean, how can you look your peers in the eye when you end up in that same situation in the future and expect people to make a rational decision. We beat them fair and square, by 10 points. Why not reward the team that won the head to head match up??

Anyway, that's my opinion, and I know it doesn't count for anything, but I had to release the feeling somewhere.

Texas Football notes.

UT's game this weekend is on ESPN2 at 9:15pm CDT. 

Seeing as 9:15 is usually right about the time my brain tells my eyes to shut down, this will be interesting...   May need to take more than 2 naps on Saturday, and eat some cupcakes at 7 to get a sugar rush that will last till midnight.

I'm supposed to be at my tailgate within the next 60-85 minutes, but i can't seem to get out of bed to:
walk dog - 10 mins
shower/put on clothes - 15 mins
pack tailgating tub - 6 mins
pack food - 3 mins
pack beer cooler - 5 mins
pack chairs - 2 mins
stop and buy ice - 7 mins
drive over there - 20 mins

Unless you had season tickets during his 3 years at Texas, or saw all his games on TV, you won't understand why getting to the game 30 minutes early is a big deal.

Saturday night, Vince Young's #10 jersey will be retired before the game, never to be worn again by anyone on a Texas Longhorns football team.

If it was up to me, the highlight real could last 30 minutes if I had access to all the games he ever played. I vividly remember sitting in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, when this one, his last one ever took place. One of the most amazing nights of my life. A night I'm sure I'll never forget, and #84 of my spoof on the top 100 things to do in life list.
