I'll never forget driving down Brodie and checking to see if Jack was there, peeking out of his barn. His name really wasn't Jack, in fact, I later found out that Jack was a Charlotte. However, he was Jack to me, and my lunch colleagues.
I'll also never really know if my lunch colleagues thought it was amusing how I'd always look for Jack, or if they truly enjoyed seeing him out there like I did.
Every time we'd choose a Brodie-based lunch spot, I looked forward to seeing Jack. Sometimes he'd be outside with his mates chewing on some grass, sometimes you could see his silhouette just inside the barn, but if lucky, about once a month, you'd catch him hanging his head out like this, while protecting his body from the blistering sun.
But alas, even the farm on Brodie and 290 eventually gave in to the evil developers promising millions for the few acres that brought me, and I assume hundreds of others, a few seconds of happiness each day. I guess they figured my happiness could be bought as well.
Now, when you drive by the farm, you can see the sprawling city taking over. The barn is the only thing left, but has a chain link fence around it so vandals don't enter it as it gets ready to be torn down.
I'm not quite sure what will be built on the grounds that I once looked forward to seeing, but I can guarantee you that I, will boycott the stores (for at least a year )regardless how cool they may be.
For to Jack I owe a ton of smiles and laughter. He took me away from work, away from the city, and into a dreamland where donkeys are happy as can be.
I welcome you to join me in my boycott of the concrete jungle that moved my friend that I had come to know as Jack.
I bet Jack’s owners cashed in on a kick-ass ranch towards Blanco, where Jack has a pond, shade trees and flowers, for I know that Jack would love flowers, ponds and natural shade trees to take a nap under! Yep, he’s loving every minute of it!

I never saw Jack, but I did appreciate that that farm held out for so long everytime I drove by. I can't imagine what more consumerist crap we would need on that road.
I am sad to see Jack go too...but I am not going to boycott the DSW that's going to be built there. I love shoes!
Very pretty design! Keep up the good work. Thanks.
